JP Conference with over 150 NRI's

Lok satta leader Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan's message during conference with about 150 NRIs on March 14th 2009. JP Narayana told real facts about present situation in Andhra Pradesh, here are the highlights.

- Recently Andhra Pradesh government called for 846 low level jobs like peons, attenders... More than 11.1 lacks of people are applied for these jobs.

- Vizag steel plant recently called for 100 kalasis jobs (unskilled laborer). More than 22000 people applied and they even include post graduate and engineering.

These two recent pieces show present situation of AP.

- For 2009 elections present main parties in Andhra Pradesh are going to spend 4500 crores. For example in terms of purchasing power of doller if 10 rupees then, these parties are going to spend 5 times more than the recent American presidential elections between two leading contender. (Obama and John Mackane)

And good news is..

- Recently in last 2 to 3 months more than 400000 people registered to vote in only Hyderabad city, this is all-time record in India.

JP Narayana campaign covered 25 Assembly constituencies in 24 hours.

Following in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi and former President of United States Franklin Roosevelt, Bureaucrat-turned-politician Jayprakash Narayan Friday launched his election campaign by train.With his message of “corruption free politics”, the president of Lok Satta party launched “whistle stop” tour.

530-km journey in a second class compartment attached to Hyderabad - Tirupati Krishna Express from Secunderabad, which will take them to 25 assembly constituencies in seven districts in a record 24 hours.

This is the first time that the leader of a political party has decided to campaign while travelling by train. JP, as he is known among his supporters, plans to cover the entire state by train in phases. Addressing people at various railway stations, he said he wanted to bring a change in the politics, which is currently dominated by those with money and muscle power. “There is a need to bring a change and to make politics free from corruption,” he said and alleged that for a few families politics had become a business and they were trying to control it with money power.

“I have undertaken this tour by the train to set a new landmark in the politics. Instead of using money power to mobilise people for big public meetings, we are going to them with our agenda,” he told reporters at Secunderabad railway station. He promised to delegate powers to the local bodies and provide city-like facilities in the villages.

He assured the people that his party will not field a single candidate who has a criminal background and that it will not use money or liquor to woo the voters.
Narayan has already announced that he would contest from Kukatpally assembly constituency in the state capital. The Lok Satta said it would field well educated and fresh faces with a clean image in the next month’s election to the assembly and the Lok Sabha.

Honestly speaking.. this is the best interview i have ever watched!. Such a clear vision, such a optimistic thiniking. This interview shows how deep thinker he is. He is having political vision and passion to see a developed and politically stable India.

Hope Loksatta win some hearts if not all in coming elections. He get good notch in the political system in india. Definitly India needs him, and lets hope people understand his views.

India can be transformed in 5 years

Lok Satta Party President Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan has told NRIs that it will not take more than five years for his party to reform the present political system and usher in revolutionary changes in a number of fields.

“A decent healthcare system comparable to the one in Britain can be put in place in India within a year, although reforms in education may take longer.”

Close to 150 NRI Lok Satta supporters from the U. S., the U. K., Canada and other countries interacted with Dr. JP in a teleconferencing session and posed a host of questions.

On the role of NRIs in the Indian democratic system, Dr JP said the 2009 elections presented a priceless opportunity to change history for all. “The NRIs are aware of the possibilities and the absurdities in Indian democracy.”

On the issue of there being no visible leadership other than himself in the party, he said it was one of the most crucial challenges the party was facing right now. He, however, pointed out that a number of leaders had come to the fore in the recent past.

Asked how he ensured that that party representatives adhered to the party’s core values, he said the party conducted internal elections by secret ballot to various elected posts and put in place a disciplinary authority to keep a check on erring individuals. For the first time in India, the candidate for State Assembly from the Patancheru constituency has been elected by secret ballot in open primaries. Lok Satta Party will institutionalize such a mechanism in all elections to make the party the forum of the public for political engagement and not a private family estate.

On the issue of NRI voting rights, Dr. JP said that proxy voting was a practical solution. NRIs should be allowed to appoint a ‘person of trust’ as a proxy voter to cast ballot on their behalf, he added.

- Whether we are winning or losing does not matter. It matters just how we are going to face this elections with confidence.

We heard about lot of good leaders in the times of independence. I could not see the process of getting independence. I could read about them after independence and after they became popular. I can't see their influence live. What I believe is JP will influence a lot in the next couple of years in the county. I got a chance to see a revolution live.

Please look at JP's logical arguments. Thats what make difference between educated and uneducated politicians. Change we need is through him... there is lot of clarity and vision in his thoughts. We need this kind of people not only in AP but all over country. We gave chance to various parties but nothing got better rather went worst. Why dont we give this party a chance which has great leadership like JP garu and a strong agenda.

Why even after 60 years, millions are still backward despite some making huge strides. What kind of republic are we building for the future.
